In a historic address from the iconic Red Fort on 15th August 2005, the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India unveiled the Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme (PMSS) for the Railway Protection Force (RPF). This initiative, established in the Academic year 2008-09, aims to foster higher technical and professional education for the dependent wards of Ex/Serving RPF/RPSF personnel and widows below the Rank of Gazetted officer.

Scholarship Allocations: Ensuring Equality and Inclusivity

For the academic session 2015-16, a total of 150 scholarships were earmarked for RPF, with a special emphasis on empowering female candidates through a reserved quota of 75 scholarships. The distribution plan among Zonal Railways and RPSF is strategically outlined to ensure equitable opportunities.

Benifits and Details about Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme for Railway Protection Force

  1. Scholarship Amount:
    • ₹2500/- per month for male students
    • ₹3000/- per month for female students
  2. Personal Recognition:
    • All selected applicants receive a personal letter from the Hon’ble Prime Minister.
  3. Duration:
    • Two to five years, aligned with the course duration.
  4. Eligibility Criteria:
    • Dependent wards of Ex/Serving RPF/RPSF personnel and widows below the Rank of Gazetted officer.
    • Minimum 60% in 12th Std., Diploma/Graduation.
  5. Courses Eligible:
    • Professional Degree Courses recognized by regulatory bodies.
  6. Order of Preference:
    • Wards/widows of personnel who died in service due to encounters.
    • Wards of personnel who died in service.
    • Wards of retired personnel.
    • Wards of serving personnel.

Minimum Marks in MEQ:

At least 60% marks/equivalent grade in MEQ for entry to various Professional Courses for the initial sanction of scholarship. MEQ for various courses are as:

How to Apply for Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme for Railway Protection Force :

  1. Online Submission:
    • Apply through the National Scholarship Portal under “Ministry of Railway.”
    • Register, fill out the form, and submit.
  2. Post-Application Verification:
    • Zonal Railways verify applications.
    • System-generated registration number for future references.
  3. Scholarship Disbursement:
    • Amount transferred directly via PFMS under DBT Mission.
