Bihar Elections 2025 Announcements: While RJD leaders are mapping their Social welfare programs in the state after getting elected in upcoming Bihar Vidhan Sabha election 2025, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar played a big turn to introduced free electricity program in Bihar from August . The Chief Minister Nitish Kumar posted on X to implement a 125 unit electricity free program for all the domestic electricity consumers in the state. The scheme will benefited more than 1 crore 67 lakh families in the state from next month. Bihar Free Electricity Program Implemented From 1st August
The chief minister of Bihar state Nitish Kumar announced to provide free electricity to domestic electricity consumers in the state for up to 125 units per month. The Chief Minister announced this program on 16th July 2025 on social media platform x.
According to his statement, in the government is continuously working to provide electricity with minimum cost to all the residents in bihar, Now the government is implementing the next step to provide electricity from first august where all the citizens in Bihar will get a 0 rupee bill if they are using less than 125 units of electricity.
More Than 1.67 Crore People Will Get Benefit
The Chief Minister has stated that more than 1 core 67 lakh families will get the benefits of free electricity under 125 units free electricity bill program. However this program will currently include beneficiaries under the domestic bill consumers. So individuals who are using the commercial meters will need to pay regular charges to the company while the amount for domestic customers will be paid by the Bihar government.
Installation of Solar Panels
Apart from the free electricity of 125 units consumption per month, the government has also announced to provide facility of installing free solar panels on the rooftop of the beneficiaries who are getting the benefits of the free electricity program. The government will implement the program in next 3 years and will install solar panels on rooftop by providing financial assistance from the state government
Free Solar Panel For Low Income Individuals
If you are unable to pay the payment to install solar panel on your rooftop then you can also apply in the upcoming program of Kutir Jyoti Yojana in Bihar. The program will designed for poor peoples in the state who do not have sufficient income to purchase solar panel. Government will evaluate the income criteria of the applicant and will release the fund in bank account of the beneficiary to install the solar panel in free of cost under Kutir Jyoti Yojana.
10000 Megawatt Electricity Production
Chief Minister told that the state will produce up to 10000 megawatt electricity in upcoming years under the new initiative for restoring solar panels on the rooftop of beneficiaries of free electricity program. It will not only provide the individual benefit to the applicant but will also allow them to share the extra energy to the company so they can provide it to other consumers accordingly. However it is only an estimate, but the government is cleaving to reach the capacity to produce 10000 megawatt electricity in upcoming years.
Preparing for Bihar Election
Parties are preparing for Bihar election 2025 which are scheduled in the last months of 2025. Chief minister earlier announced to provide 33% reservation to females of the state under the TRE 4 to recruit teachers in the state to the BPSC examination. However, the position party under the leadership of RJD leader Tejaswi Yadav, promised the people of Bihar to provide 100% reservation under the teacher and other government job recruitments in the state after getting elected. However the chief minister of the state countered his scheme and announced to provide 33% reservation to female candidates in the upcoming TRE 4 in Bihar.
The program of free electricity was also discussed by RJD earlier where they are promising to provide 200 units of electricity free of cost to all the residents of Bihar After getting elected, but the Chief Minister again entered between and announced to provide free electricity to beneficiaries who are using up to 125 units of electricity per month.
However the program is being implemented from 1st August but will include the bill of July month. So if you are saving your electricity from this month then it will also help you to get the free electricity benefit for July also.
